Spread the love

[Greek] ἐκδημέω (ekdēmeō), [Latin] peregrinare, [French] voyager au loin, [Latin] absens: to be absent, to be away, to emigrate, to vacate; 2Cor.5:6,8-9

Like St. Patrick, we are also citizens living with barbarians far away from our eternal home in heaven.

Background information:

Greek Hellenism: This term means to be absent, to be away, and to be abroad.

Plato’s Laws 9.864e: “In this case he shall depart into another country and place, and dwell there as an exile for a year.”

Plato’s Laws 12.952d: “Such, then shall be character and the procedure of him that travels abroad. Next to him we must deal in friendly wise the visitor from abroad.

Sophocles’ Oedipus Tyrannus 114: “He left our land, as he said, on a mission to Delphi.”

New Testament: This term means to be absent, to be away, and to be abroad. Paul speaks of our future destiny but now living in an earthly dwelling (tent). Yet we will have a eternal dwelling in heaven. In this tent we groan, longing to be with His heavenly habitation. God prepares us for this heavenly dwelling place. We walk by faith, not by sight while we are away from the Lord. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ to what we have done in this body (life).

Scripture:

2Cor.5:6: While we are home in the body, we are away from the Lord

2Cor.5:8: We would leave the body and go home to the Lord

2Cor.5:9: We aspire to please Him, whether we are home or away

Etymology: The Greek verb ekdemeo means out of, from (ek-) the people (demos). The Latin verb peregrinare means to be or live in foreign parts, and to go abroad. A peregrine person is not native, from foreign parts.

Conclusion:

Peregrine, democratic, democracy, absent, absence, voyage

Paul, a tentmaker, makes reference to a tent as a temporary dwelling place.

At present we are like citizens in exile or far away from our home in heaven.

Update: The White House recently honored a transgender “woman” from South America. (I guess real women seemed have been absent for consideration??)

Where are the women (and feminists) in supporting Riley Gaines’s efforts in keeping transgender “women” out of women’s sports?

Dylan Mulvaney, posing as a caricature of a “woman” is snatching endorsements all over and making a mockery of women. Where are the women speaking out against this?

The Biden administration has shown an absolute absence of accountability from the Afghan escape debacle.

The breakdown (absence) of the family (missing mother or father) has partly contributed to the moral and social ills of our society and families.

Calling JK Rowlings “transphobic” shows an absence of understanding and intelligence.

We all must not walk away from supporting detransitioners’ concerns. (Chloe Cole is to be admired for her bravery in telling her story.)

Trans community: What will you say to Jesus about what you did with your body? Do you think He will see you the same way as you see yourself?

Calling a woman, who likes being a woman, a TERF (Trans-exclusionary radical feminist) also shows an absence of common sense and intelligence.

Megan Rapinoe, away and absent with no “skin in the game”, virtue signals in saying that there is no problem with transgender “women” competing in women’s sports.

San Francisco State University, showing an absence of leadership and fairness, minimized (refused to apologize) the harassment and assault on Riley Gaines.
