[Greek] κενόω (kenoō), [Latin] exinanire, [Latin] evacuare, [French] voider, [German] austrinken: to make empty, to make void, to empty oneself; Rom.4:14, 1Cor.1:17, 1Cor.9:15, 2Cor.9:3, Php.2:7

Empty ourselves to let God in. But not empty ourselves of doctrine and faith.

Background information:1

Greek Hellenism: This term means to empty, to deprive, to abandon, to ruin, to make void, to strip, and to desert.

Aeschylus’ Suppliant Women 660: “Never may pestilence empty this city of its mean or strife stain the soil of the land with the blood of slain inhabitants.”

Euripides’ Medea 959: “Silly woman, why do you deprive yourself of these things?”

Herodotus’ The Histories 4.123: “The Budini had abandoned the country and left nothing in it, and the Persian burnt the town.”

Sophocles’ Oedipus Tyrannus 29: “The flaming god, the malign plague, has swooped upon us, and ravages the town; he lays waste to the house of Cadmus.”

Old Testament: This term means to toil, to labor, and to cause trouble.

New Testament: This term means empty (void), to empty, and to nullify. Those who adhere to the law, the faith is null and the promise is void. Christ sent Paul to preach the gospel with simplicity so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its meaning. Certainly no one is not going to nullify Paul’s boast as an apostle. Paul sent the brothers so that his boast about you [Corinthians] might not prove empty. Christ empties Himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human form.

Scripture:

“For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with the wisdom of human eloquence, so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its meaning.” 1Cor.1:17

Paul preaches the gospel and the meaning of the cross in simple terms. Lofty and flowery speech would only diminish the cross’s meaning.

“I have not used any of these rights, however, nor do I write this that it be done so in my case. I would rather die. Certainly no one is going to nullify my boast.” 1Cor.9:15

Rather than claiming his apostolic rights and privileges, Paul claims he has a stewardship inspired by divine purpose.

“Rather He emptied Himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found human in appearance, He humbled Himself.” Php.2:7

Jesus empties Himself willing to be humble, despised, without honor, and lowly.

Etymology: The related Greek noun kenosis means self-emptying. The Latin verb exinanire means to empty (-inanis) out (ex-). The modern word inane means empty. The Latin verb evacuare means to empty out (evacuate). The German verb austrinken means to drink out.

Conclusion:

Kenosis, vacuum, evacuate, evacuation, inane, void, drink

In Greek Hellenism, it was interesting to discover the nuanced meanings: being desolate, being deprived, and being ruined.

Update: Because of the recent racial equity justice policies, many prisons have been become empty, resulting in rampant crime by repeat criminals.

Businesses are leaving the cities because of the rampant crime. These cities are becoming ghost towns.

The consequences (results) of defunding the people have resulted in the void of police officers to respond to crime.

The Biden administration has essentially nullified and depleted the border security, resulting in large inflow of illegal aliens.

Pope Francis and his inner circle are seeking to void tradition and doctrine from the faith. Tradition now has a very negative meaning.

Pope is intentionally seeking to nullify the Traditional Latin Mass because people have a “nostalgic disease”.

The Biden administration’s reckless and irresponsible energy policies have resulted in significant emptying of our nation’s strategic petroleum energy reserve.

Many in our current society have become “full of themselves” (thinking we know better) believing they can redefine marriage and gender.

Since Vatican II more and more Catholics  have been leaving the Church. More churches are empty or closed. The dumbing down of the Catholic faith is directly related to the “reforms” of the Vatican II. (The end results of Vatican II has been a spiritual and pastoral disaster. And Pope Francis wants to double-down on this!)

Bishop Robert Barron has recently stated that the faith has been dumbed down for too long. The young people seek a more substantial faith rather than a watered down faith.

Bishop Barron is actually being criticized by Modernists for saying that the faith has been dumbed down. As if dumbing down the faith is a good thing???

Many Modernists believe that a strong foundational faith is actually oppressive???

Many leaders in the Church have been deliberately downplaying, minimizing, and ignoring Jesus’ command to sin no more (Jn.8:11). Instead, the notion of ‘mercy above all else’ is becoming  paramount.

Zero bodies were recovered from the ‘Unmarked Mass Graves’ resulting from the alleged massacre of indigenous people in Canada.

Pope Francis stated that ‘backward’ U.S. Conservatives have replaced faith with ideology. Therefore these U.S. Catholics must empty out their “rigidness”. (So ideology is now a bad thing!)

Sept. 10: Modernists being exposed

Sept. 13: Modernists being criticized

Sept. 17: Modernists being loosed to wreak havoc on the Church
