The human “seamless garment” doctrine seeks to relativize (make equal) situational morality and to undermine Church teachings.

Background information:

Greek Hellenism: This term refers to equality in size, number, value, or force. This term does not take on a qualitative sense.

Homer’s Iliad 1.187: “So that you will understand how much mightier I am [quantity] than you, and another my shrink from declaring himself my equal [equality] and likening himself to me to my face.”

Herodotus’ The Histories 1.2: “The Greeks replied that, as they had been refused reparation for the abduction of the Argive Io, they would not take any to the Colchians.”

Old Testament: This term refers to equal parts.

Deut.17:6: “Only on the testimony of two or three witnesses shall a person be put to death; no one shall be put to death on the testimony of one witness.”

  1. If someone is told or has heard of this, this matter must be seriously investigated.
  2. If the truth of the matter is established, you shall bring this person out to your gates.
  3. Only on the testimony of two or three witnessed shall a person be put to death.
  4. No one shall be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.

New Testament: This term means equal, agree, same, and equality.

Mt.20:12: “These last ones worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who bore the day’s burden and the heat.” (This speaks more of divine merit and justice for the person. Each person is viewed with equal generosity. This is in contrast with human justice and envy which demands that others should deserve less.)

Mk.14:56: “Many gave false witness against Him, but their testimony did not agree.”

  1. The chief priests and entire Sanhedrin kept trying to obtain testimony to put Him to death, but their testimony did not agree.
  2. Some claimed that Jesus will ‘destroy this temple made with human hands and within three days build another not made with hands’.
  3. Jesus responds by saying that He was the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One.
  4. The high priest then condemned Jesus with blasphemy.

Jn.5:18: “For this reason the Jews tried all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the sabbath but He also called God His own father, making Himself equal to God.” (Jesus meant for the Jews to understand what He had said. Jesus meant to irritate and to enrage the Jews.)

Acts 11:17: “If then God gave them the same gift He gave to us when we came to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to be able to hinder God?” (The Jewish Christians were antagonistic toward Gentiles coming into the Christian community. The Holy Spirit tells Peter to welcome the Gentiles. When the Jerusalem community sent Barnabas to investigate, Barnabas, favorably impressed, invited Saul to participate in the Antioch mission.)

Php.2:6: “Jesus Christ, who though He was in the form of God, did not regard quality with God something to be grasped.” (Christ is in the form of God. God condescends (humbles) Himself in a human figure as Christ.)

In past years, it was taken for granted that this was to be accepted. But unfortunately, it seems that this practice has become outdated.

Relativizing doctrine and situational morality:

  1. Vital immanence: the explanation for religion/doctrine/morality comes from one’s own perceptions and sentiments.
  2. Objective morality: what is considered morally right and wrong often becomes blurred, ignored, or rejected.
  3. Religious Indifferentism: the belief that differences of religious belief are of no importance. Religions are all the same.
  4. Synodality: lived experiences often defines one’s belief system. Church teachings can be rejected or ignored. Paying lip service to Church teachings.
  5. The older generations of clergy from Vatican II and Syodality have more liberal, and progressive beliefs and attitudes. Many of these clergy also engage in the homosexual lifestyle.
  6. Seamless garment doctrine: being pro-life takes on the same moral gravity of respect for immigrants. Supporting abortion takes on the same moral gravity of being disrespectful of immigrants.

Synodality:

  1. Synodality (lived experiences): This means that lived experiences can often take precedence over Church teachings.
  2. Vatican LGBTQ “outreach”: This equals inclusion and tolerance for the homosexual lifestyle. This means paying lip service to Church teachings against homosexuality.
  3. Becoming a “listening Church“: This means laity sharing decision-making authority to define doctrine and moral beliefs. This means a Church made in the image of man and his lived experiences. What could possibly go wrong with this??
  4. Synod of Synodalities: the synod group on sexual morality recommends that personal experiences and situational ethics should take precedence over objective norms established by God.
  5. The “Holy Spirit of surprises”: This means that Synodal leaders can use the Holy Spirit to rationalize anything they want. This is dangerous in that the Holy Spirit can only stand for TRUTH.
  6. Synodality in every diocese: This means laity voting to establish their own doctrine and creating one’s own Protestant Church (while also undermining the Catholic Church.)
  7. Inviting non-Catholics to the Synod of Synodalities: This means Synod coordinators asking non-Catholics, “What can we do to make the Church less Catholic for you?”

Jesus’ Church is NOT equal with the Synodal Church:

  1. Jesus’ Church: Jesus walked with sinners but He did NOT tolerate their sinful lifestyle. He said, ‘From now on do not sin any more.’ (Jn.8:11). Jesus also said, ‘Whoever follows Me [by not sinning] will NOT walk in darkness, but will have the light of life (Jn.8:12).
  2. Synodal Church: Walking [in darkness according to Jesus] means having inclusion and tolerance for sinful behavior and lifestyles. Listening means having clergy and laity decide together which doctrine and teachings to follow. Synodality means lived experiences can take precedence over Church teachings. Synodality becomes an IDOL.

Conclusion:

Isosceles [triangle], par, equal, equality, egalitarian

Update: Fighting back with equal measure: Instead of seeking direction from on high ecclesial functionaries, traditional Catholics should convey their concerns and exert their pressure at the local issue. This could include asking for altar kneelers, Eucharistic adoration, no “extraordinary eucharistic ministers, and more reverence.

It is unfortunate that Pope Leo also supports the human “seamless garment” doctrine. This is evidenced by his tacit support for Cardinal Cupich honoring Senator Dick Durbin. Thankfully, this was later cancelled.

DEI: equality of outcome. This is how you dumb down standards so that everyone becomes equal. This is the Marxist theory of equality.

Zohran Mamdani just announced that he will eliminate the gifted student program in New York public schools. This is a common move to achieve equity through mediocrity.

Inclusion and tolerance going too far: The USCCB just released and approved a “LGBTQ friendly” NRSV bible, which seeks to whitewash sinful activity (removing the term sodomy/sodomite). What is next? Whitewashing the sin of homosexuality?

As with equal divine mercy toward each of us, God will employ equal divine judgment against us, according to our station in life. God may be equally harsh in judgement against clergy who refuse or ignore sin.

Many clergy who will welcome the LGBTQ community in the Church will also DISMISS or IGNORE the Church’s teachings against homosexuality.

Pope Leo’s absence from and silence about the LGBTQ Jubilee speaks volumes about his assent for this event. Pope Leo did NOT stop this event.

Nichols warmly welcomes and accepts the new Archbishop of Canterbury. Cardinal Nichols, part of the older liberal and progressive generations of Vatican II clergy, evidently has no problem with a WOMAN BISHIOP who supports abortion. Shocker! This is religious indifferentism at its worst.

What is NOT the same: the older generation of clergy are liberal and progressive in their beliefs. The younger generations of priests and seminarians are more conservative and traditionally minded.

“The idea that all religions are equal is a diabolical lie. Only the Catholic Church possesses the fullness of the means of salvation.” Cardinal Sarah

“All the good works in the world are equal to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass because they are the works of man. But the Mass is the work of God. St. John Vianney

“Christ is not valued at all, unless He is values above all.” St. Augustine
