[Greek] ἐνέχω (enechō), [Latin] insidiare, [Latin] iugare, [French] joinder: to hold (a grudge), to be hostile towards, to be under control; Mk. 6:19, Lk.11:53, Gal.5:1

Saint Augustine Quote: “The good man, though a slave, is free; the wicked, though he reigns, is a slave, and not the slave of a single man,...”

St. Augustine makes reference to how one can become a slave (being held captive) to sin or addicted to some vice.

Background information:

Greek Hellenism: This term means to hold fast, to harbor a grudge, to be entangled, to be caught, to pierce, to be seized with wonder, to be liable, and to come to a standstill.

Epictetus: “If someone succeeds in provoking you, realize that your mind is complicit in this provocation.” (Sounds like [fill in the name] Derangement Syndrome)!

Plato’s Leches 183e: “As he was fighting, his scythe fixed to his spear somehow stuck into the ship’s rigging, holding fast.”

Euripides’ Iphigenia in Aulis 527: “True, he is enslaved by the love of popularity, a fearful evil.”

Herodotus’ The Histories 7.128: “Great wonder took him when he came and viewed the mouth of the Penesu rivers.”

Plato’s Laws 9.881d: “He that fails to drive him off shall be liable by law to the curse of Zeus.”

Old Testament: This term means to pursue, to be entangled, to be guilty, to keep close, and to shut up.

New Testament: This term means to hold a grudge, to be hostile, and to be under the control of.

Mk.6:19: “Herodias harbored a grudge against him [John the Baptist] and wanted to kill him but was unable to do so.” (Herod imprisoned John the Baptist because he feared that his influence over the people might lead to a rebellion. Yet Herod, knowing that John the Baptist was a righteous and holy, liked to listen to him.)

Lk.11:53: “When He left, the scribes and Pharisees began to act with hostility toward Him and to interrogate Him about many things.” Jesus denounced them because:

Pharisees:

  1. They focus on external cleaning rituals.
  2. They are filled inside with hate and plunder.
  3. They pay tithes of mint and rue, yet they pay no attention to judgment and love of God.
  4. They seek honor in the synagogues and marketplaces, yet are like unseen graves (outward piety masking inward impurity).

Scholars:

  1. They impose hard burdens others, yet do not help them.
  2. They build memorials of prophets whom their ancestors killed, yet they bear witness and consent to their ancestors.
  3. They take away the key of knowledge and block others who seek it.

Gal.5:1: “For freedom Christ set us free; so stand firm and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.” (Paul points out that one continues under the yoke of slavery under the law and circumcision.)

New Testament concept of freedom: Man attains self-control by letting himself be controlled by God. God provides a true liberation (freedom) from a deficient existence. (Talk about a profound contradiction!! ONE BECOMES TOTALLY FREE BY BEING CONTROLLED BY GOD! This sounds life following God’s will.) #GodIsInControl  #Mindblown

Modern concept of freedom: “I can do anything I want!” This notion of freedom can often result in being enslaved or addicted to some sinful activity or overindulgence. This can become a false sense of freedom.

Modernists’ and Synodalists’ contempt (holding a grudge) against Tradition:

  1. At the 2026 Consistory, Cardinal Roche sent a letter [in his efforts to remove the TLM] to the Cardinals. Other empowered bishops continue to invoke Traditiones Custodes.
  2. Holding to the status quo: the Cardinals at the 2026 Consistory did not hold any discussion about the liturgy and TLM. The focus was more on Synodality. Shocker!
  3. Bishop Athanasius Schneider has criticized the Vatican II for holding up doctrinal and and confusion.
  4. Bishop Athanasius Schneider has criticized Pope Leo for hold up Vatican II as “the guiding star” of the Church. In actuality, Vatican II has become a great pastoral and spiritual disaster for the Church.
  5. Rather than embracing Tradition, Synodality holds on the the idea of a worldly Church made in the image of man and his lived experiences. This is contrary to Jesus’ intentions for His Church.
  6. The Brazilian archbishop Carlos Perira declares excommunication for unauthorized Latin Mass attendance. He claims that this constitutes “public schism” under can law??
  7. Cardinal Zen said that conscience must be respected between the Vatican and SSPX, arguing that the SSPX should not be compelled to accept teaching contrary to Tradition.
  8. Cardinal Zen: “The Novus Order did not respect the intentions of the conciliar fathers.” Pope Paul VI worked with Protestant theologians to create the NO Mass!
  9. Pope Leo degraded (demoted) African bishop Gneba for promoting a pastoral directive for priests to maintain high moral standards

Overcoming the modern Church practices causing confusion for the Novus Order Mass: [Traditional vs. Modern perspectives on altar servers:

  1. The Synodal Church is now seeking to further redefine the priesthood by making the priesthood more worldly ===> making the priesthood LESS SEPARATE FROM THE WORLD! ===> creating more confusion for a young man considering the priesthood.
  2. How is a young boy ever going to consider a priestly vocation when he sees an altar girl at Mass?
  3. How is it helpful that a young girl, seeking to become an altar girl at Mass, will have her hopes crushed realizing that she cannot become a priest. This cannot be possible in that the male priest represents the male Christ.
  4. Tradition: males and females each have their own unique dignity and vocation in the Church.
  5. Since Vatican II and Synodality: male and females roles in the Church have become blurred. Now we have “girl altar boys”, continued talk of women deacons and woman priests. (This is part Synodality’s intention to redefine the Church in the image of man (and woman) and their lived experiences. (not by Jesus’ intentions.)

Modern concept of freedom: “I can do anything I want!” This notion of freedom can often result in being enslaved or addicted to some sinful activity or overindulgence. This can become a false sense of freedom.

Etymology:

  1. The Greek verb enecho means to hold (-echo) upon (en-).
  2. The Latin verb insidiare means to sit upon (lying in wait).
  3. Insidious means deceitful, cunning, and treacherous.
  4. The Latin verb iugare means to join or to marry.
  5. The Latin noun iugum means yoke. A yoke is a wooden frame fastened on an ox for plowing or pulling.
  6. To yoke means to join and to unite.

Conclusion:

Insidious, join, enjoin, yoke subjugate, conjugate

The Greek philosopher Epictetus foresaw the psychological notion of a person “living rent-free” in someone’s mind.

Update: Many continue today to have TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome). Democrats would rather not call Iran a sponsor of terrorism rather than give Trump credit for his actions against Iran.

Modern understanding of reform and renewal:

  1. It was naively thought that the Church needed to get with the world “so that the Church can get with the times”: bringing in worldliness and “smoke of Satan” brings more problems in the Church.
  2. Synodality: we need to continue what Vatican II started (to reform and renew the Church). This actually creates more and more problems for the Church.
  3. Synodal “reform” and “renewal” ===> creates more problems in the Church ===> [what is the response to this?] ===> more “reform” and “renewal” ===> still more problems in the Church ====> [rinse and repeat]
  4. German Synodal Church: The German Church is “reforming” and “renewing” itself into decline and heresy. (This a great warning sign of things to come with Synodality!)
  5. Modernists and Synodalists: their ideology will take precedence over acknowledging the reality that Tradition will be more effective in truly reforming and renewing the Church.

Traditional understanding of reform and renewal:

  1. Tradition provides TRUE REFORM and TRUE RENEWAL.
  2. The younger generations (clergy and laity) are attracted to doctrinal clarity and Church teachings.
  3. The TLM is thriving (where allowed).
  4. True reform and renewal begins when the Magisterium remains separate from the world.
  5. Lefebvre: “Our [Church] future is in our past [moving back to Tradition is TRUE REFORM and TRUE RENEWAL].

It can be said that many of us may be enslaved or addicted to notoriety, fame, likes, narcissism, social media, wealth, sweets, and sinful activity.

We often anecdotally hear of those certain people who have may sold their soul to the devil for worldly acclaim. This perhaps happen more than we realize.

Sanctuary city madness: we are constantly seeing protesters (citizens, politicians, and politicians) obstructing ICE’s efforts to remove illegals and criminals from these cities. They are protesting against removing criminals from the cities.

Many abortion supporters are still resentful now that Roe vs. Wade has been overturned at the federal level. There is no longer a federal right to have an abortion. They are saying, “how dare they take this right to kill my baby away from me.”!

“It is the part of a wise man to resist pleasures, but of a foolish man to be a slave to them.” Epictetus

“If you wish, you can become a slave of passions, and if you wish, you can remain free and not submit to their yoke, for God has created you with that power.” St. Anthony the Great

“Hanging onto resentment is letting someone you despise live rent-free in your head.” Ann Landers

“For it is a master stroke of Satan to get Catholics to disobey [and become hostile to] the whole of Tradition in the name of obedience.” Archbishop Lefebvre

  1. Many Catholics are now led to believe that Tradition is “rigid”.
  2. Ironically, the SSPX has become called “schismatic” for following Traditional practices.
  3. Traditional and conservatively minded clergy and laity and now being marginalized by the Modernist and Synodality clergy.
  4. Empowered clergy are seeking to remove the TLM because it is “divisive” to have two different liturgical practices.
  5. The irony is rich in that the Novus Order Mass was created by a partnerships with Pope Paul VI and Protestant theologians. Let that sink in!
