[Greek] συγχέω (sygcheō), [Latin] confundere, [French] meler, [French] exciter: to confuse, to stir up, to throw into disorder, to blur; Acts 2:6, Acts 9:22, Acts 19:32, Acts 21:27,31
Pope Francis continues to create great confusion and chaos concerning the nature of sin (Fiducia Supplicans), human diginity (Dignitas Infinita), and the Church (Synod of Synodalities). What will be said about Marian apparitions? One can only wonder if this is unintentional or intentional?
Background information:
Greek Hellenism: This term means to confuse, to pour together, to throw into confusion, to bewilder, to stir up, to cause disorder, and to blur.
Euripides’ Bacchae 349: “Let someone go quickly to the seat where he watches the flight of birds, upset and overturn it with levers, turning it upside down.”
Polybius’ Histories 1.40.13: “They turned and bore down upon them and throwing their own lives into utter disorder and confusion.”
Homer’s Odyssey 8.139: “For to my mind there is naught worse than the sea to confound a man, be never so strong.”
Euripides’ Medea 1005: “Ah, why are you standing in distress when your fortune is good?” (Euripides, as a non-Christian, may have unknowingly realized that one cannot be truly happy even with earthly riches.)
Old Testament: This term means to confound, to make uneasy, to make embarrassed, to startle, and to displease.
Tower of Babel: The whole world had spoken the same language. In their ARROGANCE, the people had built up a tower to reach up into the heavens. In response, the Lord confused their language so that no one would understand each other. Interestingly, this will be later contrasted with Pentecost.
God responds to human arrogance by humbling them (Tower of Babel). Unfortunately, there are now currently numerous examples of human arrogance on display in our culture.
New Testament: This term means to confuse, to confound, to stir up, and to be in an uproar.
Scripture:
“At this sound Jews from every nation gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language.” Acts 2:6
At Pentecost speaking in foreign tongues alludes to the worldwide mission of the church. Because of the Holy Spirit, Jews from every nation were confused because they heard others speaking in their own language.
“But Saul grew all the stronger and confounded the Jews who lived in Damascus, proving that this is the Messiah.” Acts 9:2
The Jews were confused because they had only previously known Saul as the rabid Pharisee who had persecuted the Christians. Paul stirred up the crowd.
“Meanwhile, some were shouting one thing, others something else; the assembly was in chaos, and most of the people had no idea why they had come together.” Acts 19:32
Paul claimed that these hand-made gods are not gods at all. The silversmiths were alarmed that Saul was going to destroy their livelihood. Although the larger crowd had no clue for the disturbance, a few had known the cause. According to the silversmiths, Paul was stating “dis-information”.
“The Jews from the province of Asia noticed Paul in the temple who had stirred up the crowd, and laid hands on him.” Acts 21:27
The Jews thought Paul, now a follower of Christ, was “defiling” the temple. This man is teaching what is against faith and law.
Confusing and misleading statements from Pope Francis:
“Jesus Christ, Mohammed, Jehovah, Allah…We can accomplish miraculous things in the world world my merging our faiths, an the time for such a movement is now.” Pope Francis is denying the doctrinal truth that salvation can only be attained through Jesus Christ. This alludes to improper ecumenism. The Koran and the Holy Bible are not the same.
“The German experience does not help. We must be patient, dialogue, and accompany those people on the real synodal path, so that it does not end badly in some way.” Pope Francis is not criticizing the doctrinal problems, but rather that the German bishops are moving too fast in their “reform” and “renewal”. In response, Pope Francis has allowed non-liturgical blessings for same-sex couples.
“If they [gay priests] accept the Lord and have good will, whom I am to judge?” Pope Francis ignores and downplays the reality of that homosexuality is disordered and a sinful state. Unfortunately, Pope Francis does not strive for the highest moral standards of behavior for clergy. The priest, acting in the person of Christ, is called to exercise chastity (even when one has homosexual inclinations) and celibacy.
“The Holy Spirit [of surprises] is the heart of synodality and the driving force of evangelization.” Pope Francis erroneously claims that the Holy Spirt can ratify anything produced from a synodal process. With this logic, one can say the Holy Spirit can approve anything one wants to be submitted in a synod. Yet, the Holy Spirit cannot condone sin! One has to ask, “What spirit is Pope Francis referring to? The spirit of the age?
Vatican’s confusing statements about Marian apparitions: Fr. Stefano Cecchin, president of the Pontifical Marian Academy ARROGANTLY said, “that the apparitions which speak of punishments from God are absolutely false.”
- It seems that Fr. Cecchin has completely forgotten or ignored the messages of past Marian apparition warnings of chastisement and punishment.
- These Church leaders ARROGANTLY refuse to acknowledge the reality and consequences of sin.
- The Vatican seems more concerned about mercy, inclusion, tolerance, and false compassion.
- They “stick their heads in the sand” when they ARROGANTLY say “God can only be merciful!
- To say otherwise would be an acknowledgement (and indictment) of the situation in the Church and culture (influences of sin and worldly values).
Etymology: The Greek verb sugcheo means to pour (-cheo) together (sug-). The Latin verb confundere also means to pour together, to combine, and to blur. The past participle is confusus. A melee is a confused conflict among many persons.
Conclusion
Confound, confounding, confusion, confused, melee, excite
Update: It has been generally acknowledged that Pope Francis’ continues to sew seeds of confusion: lack of clarity about homosexuality, not calling out sin, pagan ceremonies, synodality, attempting to redefine dogma, changing church teachings, and giving the laity increased decision-making authority in the Church (what could ever go wrong with that???)
In response to the universal criticism of Pope Francis (and his policies), The Vatican has espoused a new heresy of the ‘doctrine of the Holy Father’. If you criticize Pope Francis, you are being divisive and schismatic. This is essentially believing that the pope has become an oracle of God.
Pope Francis’ legion of sycophants (“pope-splainers”) are out in full force employing “verbal gymnastics” in defending and explaining Pope Francis controversial and confusing statements and documents.
Unfortunately, we are living in a time where clergy may get expelled, cancelled, and laicized for speaking about traditional teachings or speaking out against Pope Francis and his inner circle. Traditional priests are now despised by Pope Francis. Traditional and conservative Catholics (and Christians) are continually being marginalized and discriminated by the Vatican.
Despite the Traditional Latin Mass’s long-lasting history in the Church, Pope Francis states the TLM must be set aside. Pope Francis is confused in thinking that there are two Latin rites. Therefore, he believes that this situation has become “divisive”.
It is perhaps not confusing or surprising to understand why many clergy (cardinals, bishops, and priests) are either cowardly silent or are tacitly supportive of these questionable Modernist teachings.
In their outreach to the LGBTQ community, the Vatican speaks of “radical inclusion and mercy” rather than calling out sinful behavior. The Vatican is permitting sinful behavior rather then stating Church teachings against sin. Many souls are being led into eternal moral peril. No wonder this can be confusing and misleading to the faithful.
So now you shouldn’t be confused in seeing how Pope Francis’ papacy continues to sew seeds of confusion and chaos! (This also harkens back to Pope VI ‘s quote: “through some crack the smoke of satan has entered into the Church of God.”)
“Deliberate or persistent ambiguity–anything that fuels misunderstanding or seems to leave an opening for objectively sinful behavior–is not of God. And it inevitably results in damage to individual souls and to our common life.” Archbishop Chaput
“The devil is capable of confusing the most brilliant mind.” St. Padre Pio
